The XC90 is the first car in the world with technology that features automatic braking if the driver turns in front of an oncoming car. This is a common scenario at busy city crossings as well as on highways, where the speed limits are higher. The all-new Volvo XC90 detects a potential crash and brakes automatically in order to avoid a collision or mitigate the consequences of a crash.

Der Beetle von Volkswagen zieht in diesem Sommer in den US-Motorsport ein. Am Rande der New York International Auto Show stellt Volkswagen of America den Rallycross-Beetle mit Allradantrieb vor, dessen TSI-Motor mehr als 560 PS (412 kW) leistet. Volkswagen of America hat sich für dieses Projekt mit dem US-Rennsport-Spezialisten Andretti Autosport zum Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Team zusammengeschlossen, das zwei Global Rallycross (GRC) Fahrzeuge für die Rennfahrer Tanner Foust und Scott Speed stellt. Das Team startet die Saison zunächst mit zwei modifizierten Polos auf der Bodengruppe des 2013 World Rally Championship-Siegerautos. Im Sommer erfolgt dann der Wechsel auf den GRC Beetle, wie er in New York präsentiert wird. Mit diesem allradgetriebenen Rallycross Beetle stellt Volkswagen in den USA gleichzeitig das leistungsstärkste Modell der Baureihe vor: Der TSI-Motor leistet durch Aufladung und Direkteinspritzung mehr als 560 PS. Rallycross gehört zu den Motorsport-Disziplinen in Amerika, deren Fangemeinde am rasantesten wächst - sowohl in Besucherzahlen als auch in Bezug auf TV-Einschaltquoten. Auch wenn es diesmal bei uns nur einen milden Winter gab, einige Tonnen Streusalz und Splitt mussten dann doch auf die Straßen gestreut werden und haben ihre unerwünschten Spuren bis in die entlegensten Winkel an den Autos hinterlassen. Jetzt, wo auch die Blumen ihre Knospen aus der Erde recken, ist die richtige Zeit, sein Auto checken zu lassen. Eine gründliche Reinigung und Durchsicht in der Fachwerkstatt schaffen Sicherheit, denn die Spezialisten wissen am besten, was das Fahrzeug wieder frühlingsfit macht. Eine gute Möglichkeit hierzu bieten die Marken-Werkstätten, die auch gleich Reifenprofil, Laufbild, Luftdruck und eventuelle Unwuchten kontrollieren. Verfügen die Sommerräder nicht mehr über die Mindestprofiltiefe, halten die Experten ein umfangreiches Angebot an passenden Reifen bereit. Wer möchte, kann aus einem großen Sortiment passender Kompletträder auch ein neues Design oder breiteres Format für sein Modell auswählen. Denn schließlich beginnt im Frühjahr auch die neue Modesaison. Besonders praktisch ist, dass die Winterpneus gleich in der Werkstatt eingelagert werden und so weder im eigenen Keller noch in der Garage Platz wegnehmen. Schließlich sollen dort besser die Fahrräder einsatzbereit stehen.
