September is National Preparedness Month (NPM) and a new public service advertising (PSA) campaign is launching today to encourage New York families to create an emergency plan. The PSAs were distributed to media outlets throughout the New York City area and will be running in donated time and space.

As a further demonstration of its commitment to health, CVS Health also announced the end of tobacco sales at CVS/pharmacy as of September 3, nearly a month ahead of the previously targeted date of October 1. A devastating invasive pest with no known natural predators threatens recreational areas, forests, and suburban and urban shade trees. Once a tree is infested, it must be removed, which is why the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has designated August as Tree Check Month to encourage the public to look for signs of a devastating invasive pest, the Asian longhorned beetle (ALB). The USDA is asking for help spreading the word about how the public can help save trees with a PSA TV spot, radio scripts, and print advertisements.
