The Oral Cancer Foundation is pleased to have developed partnerships with two highly visible Hollywood stars to raise awareness of a disease of which too few people in the U.S. have ever heard. Academy Award winning actor, Michael Douglas, who has recently completed successful treatment for an advanced oral cancer, and Emmy and Tony Award winning actress, Blythe Danner, who lost her husband to the same disease have partnered with OCF to send a very important message about screening and early detection of oral cancer to the American public.

At its annual meeting of more than 10,000 financial representatives and staff members today, Northwestern Mutual announced its new multi-year philanthropic program to fight childhood cancer. In preparation for July 4th and the summer months when instances of food poisoning increase, the Ad Council and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, in partnership with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), are continuing their national Food Safe Families public service campaign, the first multimedia effort designed to raise awareness of the risks of foodborne illness (or food poisoning) in the home.

Some of the world’s most famous whisky makers, Johnnie Walker, Bushmills, J&B and Talisker, have harnessed the creative talents of up-and-coming independent film makers around the globe to help inspire people to ‘raise a glass’ to their dads this Father’s Day.
The whisky makers partnered with MOFILM, a global network of more than 45,000 film makers, to seek short films that pay tribute to fathers in a campaign called ‘Raise a glass to your dad’.
MOFILM challenged 20 film makers to create a short piece that told the story of their relationship with their father and how whisky plays a part in that.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is launching a new series of public service announcements (PSAs) to help raise awareness and deepen the understanding of the hospital’s lifesaving mission through real St. Jude heroes – its patients and families. St. Jude has not produced national PSAs since 2003 and timed this new multichannel campaign to coincide with the hospital’s 50th anniversary.
The PSAs share St. Jude moments through patients and families like 10-year-old Angiel. Angiel and her mom Damaris were planning a trip to Africa for a family reunion when she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer that produced tumors in both of Angiel’s legs. Today, thanks to St. Jude doctors, Angiel can still look forward to visiting family in a foreign land one day. Angiel’s story is just one of several patients featured in the PSAs.

A sweet celebration, 75 years in the making! Entenmann’s Bakery, the maker of more than 100 sweet baked goods, and The Salvation Army have partnered to celebrate the 75th Annual National Donut Day on June 1st, 2012 with a sweet celebration.
The holiday, held annually on the first Friday of June, was established by The Salvation Army in 1938 in Chicago to honor the “Donut Lassies” who served these treats to soldiers during World War I and to help raise needed funds during the Great Depression. This significant occasion established the donut as a long-standing symbol of the services The Salvation Army continues to provide.

New public service advertisements (PSAs) released today by Feeding America and the Ad Council are designed to raise awareness of where families across the country can find free and nutritious meals for their children during the summer months when school isn’t in session.

The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck hosted the ninth-annual More Magazine/Fitness Magazine Women’s Half-Marathon in Central Park on Sunday, April 15. More than 7,200 women participated in the race—the largest women’s-only half-marathon in the country—established by More and Fitness magazines, in partnership with New York Road Runners. Hasselbeck participated in the race for the second straight year, besting her 2011 time by more than four minutes and finishing in 1:40:05. She ran in support of Team NoGii to raise money for Celiac Disease research, as well as Team Red, White and Blue, to support America’s war veterans.
