J.Crew brands has announced their continued participation in a fall denim drive in partnership with Cotton Incorporated’s Blue Jeans Go Green™ denim recycling program in J.Crew and Madewell retail stores. The drive first kicked off in 74 Madewell stores on August 12, while J.Crew's 269 participating stores started the program on August 21. Both brands have decided to extend their participation in the denim drive - J.Crew will host until December 31, 2014 and Madewell will host until January 31, 2015.

Maersk Container Industry calls for tougher enforcement of European environmental legislation designed to protect the Earth’s ozone layer and help prevent climate change.
Current EU legislation bans the “import” or “placing on the market” of reefer containers with significant potential to damage the climate and ozone layer. But thousands of such containers nevertheless circulate in Europe’s internal market on virtually the same market conditions as more environmentally friendly reefers.

Homeowners in Santa Clara County still can take advantage of a county rebate program that covers 80 percent of the cost of a home energy assessment, up to $800. However, because the program is for a limited time only while funds last, homeowners are urged to contact a participating contractor as soon as possible to schedule a home energy assessment and also qualify for additional incentives up to $6,000 through Energy Upgrade California.
