The German Federal Foreign Office (FFO), the Goethe-Institut, and the Federation of German Industry (BDI), announce the launch of WanderbUS, an immersive traveling exhibit bringing German culture to 48 states over five months. Launching March 5th in Washington, D.C., the WanderbUS will hit the road to visit high schools and universities in every state within the continental US. Staffed with a team of educational professionals, the tour will feature presentations, games and virtual reality tours of German landmarks including Hamburg, Nuernberg and Frankfurt. Messe Frankfurt looks back on a 45-year-long tradition of success in the automotive industry and takes this opportunity to thank its long-term and loyal exhibitors. It has come up with something special for this occasion: the artist and photographer Rafael Neff has converted several customer products into theme worlds that are featured in the 2016 Automechanika calendar: Alfred Kärcher GmbH & Co. Automechanika is certainly the most exciting success story in 45 years. The story began in 1971 with the first Automechanika in Frankfurt, which was christened when the IAA was cancelled. In subsequent years, the trade fair has made outstanding progress, advancing to the world’s leading trade fair, which is now held in fifteen locations worldwide. In the meantime, Messe Frankfurt is also organising a series of new B2B trade fairs for trucking and logistics and B2C events for automobiles, bikes, and boats.

Johnson Controls, a global multi-industrial company, is constantly focusing on improving the future of car seating. Thinking ahead, Johnson Controls will present its seating demonstrator vehicle SD15 to customers and media at the 66th Frankfurt Autoshow. The SD15 features a simulated vehicle environment with a focus on first- and second-row seating while addressing the three automotive megatrends from a seating perspective: autonomous driving, lightweight, and increasing customer demands towards individualization and style for future urban mobility.
Furthermore, the stylish ink jet printed seat covers of the SD15 show what Johnson Controls can do in terms of individualization. The weight and space saving multi-material seats padded with highly ergonomic foam parts pave the way towards the demands of lightweight design. Many SD15 features support the megatrend of autonomous driving in the future “multi-talented” vehicle seat.
The SD15’s front row features a power driver seat mounted to a curved track, eliminating the need for separate and complex mechanisms found in conventional seat arrangements. The seat offers a control console mounted directly to the seat structure that moves conveniently with the occupant, instead of being fixed between the seats which offers wireless charging options for mobile devices.

Messe Frankfurt is continuing to expand its presence in Russia with the acquisition of a 50 percent stake in Comtrans and Autotrans by its Russian subsidiary Messe Frankfurt RUS. The remaining 50 percent will be assumed by ITE Expo OOO, the Russian subsidiary of the ITE Group. The new Joint Venture organizing company is ITEMF Expo AO.
Comtrans – which has had the status of International Commercial Vehicle Auto Show since 2011 – will present the latest models of modern motor trucks, buses, trailers and their parts from September 8-12 at Crocus Expo in Moscow.

Mit einer Weltpremiere vor wenigen Tagen auf der IAA in Frankfurt erstmals der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt, war der neue Peugeot 308 nun am Samstag bereits bei den deutschen Peugeot-Händlern zu besichtigen. Nach ersten Erhebungen des französischen Importeurs war das Interesse an den Sonderschauen groß. Dabei stand nicht nur die obligatorische Bratwurst oder der Erbseneintopf im Vordergrund, sondern ebenso der neue Kompakte der Löwenmarke. Interesse fand der Peugeot 308 dabei nicht nur bei den von den Kölner Marketing-Strategen definierten Hauptzielgruppen junge Ehepaare und junggebliebene Senioren, deren Kinder schon lange einen eigenen Hausstand haben, sondern auch bei Familien mit Kindern. Augenscheinlich, dass das klare Design des 308 bei der potentiellen Kundschaft ankommt. Über die weiteren Vorzüge wie effiziente Motoren und moderne Technologien sowie das innovative Innenraumkonzept wird dann wohl erst nach einer Probefahrt entschieden werden. Zur Markteinführung stehen drei Benziner und zwei Dieselmotorisierungen von 60 kW/82 PS bis 115 kW/155 PS zur Auswahl. Sie sind besonders effizient und verbrauchsarm. So kommt der 1.6 l e-HDi Diesel mit 85 kW/115 PS, STOP & START-System und rollwiderstandsoptimierten Reifen auf einen Verbrauch von kombiniert nur 3,7 Liter je 100 Kilometer. Der CO2-Ausstoß liegt bei 95 Gramm pro Kilometer. Die Preise für die Benzinversionen beginnen bei 16.450 Euro, die Diesel bei 19.550 Euro, jeweils zzgl. Überführungskosten.
Was wäre eine Automesse ohne sie, die Sportwagen. Für die Mehrzahl der Besucher werden sie immer Träume bleiben, einige andere erfüllen sich diesen langgehegten Traum. Wir haben auf der IAA mal geschaut, was sich in Sachen Sportwagen getan hat. Revolution oder Evolution? Ob es für ein exklusives Auto immer einer Revolution bedarf, beantwortet Bugatti auf eine ganz eigene Weise. Dieser Grand Sport Vitesse mag auf den ersten Blick unspektakulär wirken. Er ist aber Bestandteil einer sechsteiligen Edition namens „Bugatti Legends“. Eine Revolution sucht man auch beim Contiental GT V8 vergebens. Verglichen mit dem Lamborghini fällt diese allerdings gemäßigter aus. Bei Lamborghini hat man sich auf Evolution konzentriert. Mit der neuesten Version namens Squadra Corse haben sich die Ingenieure vom Rennauto aus dem Trofeo-Markenpokal inspirieren lassen. Porsche Weltpremiere mit dem neuen 911 Turbo, alles in allem eher eine Evolution. Die Revolution findet sich in Form des 918 Spyder.
Audi präsentiert den Sport quattro concept, das Audi A3 Cabriolet, den AUDI A8 und das cross over concept nanuk. Quattro ist Audi und Audi ist quattro – die Marke und die Technologie gehören untrennbar zusammen. Das wird auch auf der IAA in Frankfurt sichtbar, wo die Ingolstädter zum 30. Geburtstag des Sport quattro präsentiert dessen legitimen Nachfolger präsentieren. Tesla Motors presents its award winning Model S and revolutionary Supercharger at this year’s Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA) in Frankfurt. Having begun the first European deliveries of Model S this August in Norway, followed by Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Iceland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland, IAA is an important platform to showcase Model S to Europe.
