Tuthill announced Fill-Rite nextec™ Intelligence, a first-of-its-kind, smart fuel transfer pump technology that optimizes the fueling of fleet, construction and agricultural equipment.
“Up until now, pumping large volumes of fuel, filling large tanks or a number of vehicles meant you had to stop the pump every 30 minutes to let it cool down. Now, with nextec™ Intelligence, the pump self-manages to maintain optimum performance and continuous operation,” said Tom Carmazzi, Tuthill CEO. “With nextec™ Intelligence in their pumps, fuel operators have advanced technology that predicts, protects and performs.”
Fill-Rite’s initial offering of pumps with nextec™ Intelligence are available now and include pump only (NX3204) and pump, hose and ultra-high flow nozzle (NX3210B). Foot-mount model options will be available in the fourth quarter.

Volvo is now launching trucks that can cut CO2 emissions by 20 to 100 per cent. With a firm focus on new, energy-efficient technology for gas-powered vehicles, Volvo Trucks makes it possible to significantly reduce the climate impact of heavy regional and long-haul transport operations.
Volvo Trucks is now introducing Euro 6-compliant gas-powered trucks that offer fuel efficiency and performance on a par with that of diesel-driven trucks, but with far lower climate impact. The new trucks, the Volvo FH LNG and Volvo FM LNG, can run on either biogas, which cuts CO2 by up to 100 per cent, or natural gas which reduces CO2 emissions by 20 per cent compared with diesel. This relates to emissions from the vehicle during usage, known as tank-to-wheel.

VW schließt damit als erster Autohersteller einen Kreis, der - innerhalb einer Baureihe - alle heute relevanten Antriebssysteme - Benziner und Diesel, Erdgas-Variante, Plug-in-Hybrid (GTE) und reiner Elektroantrieb - beinhaltet. Der potentielle Käufer hat also die Qual der Wahl, wobei der neue Stromer es am schwersten haben dürfte. 34.900 Euro sind schließlich ein Wort und auch die noch mangelhafte Ladestationen-Infrastruktur dürfte sich auf die Verkaufslust auswirken. Daran ändert auch nichts, dass der Stromer mit seinem niedrigen Verbrauchswert von 12,7 kWh/100 km mit den Energiekosten knausert und damit im Alltag den Geldbeutel schont - pro 100 Kilometer fallen lediglich 3,28 Euro an. Mit einer Weltpremiere vor wenigen Tagen auf der IAA in Frankfurt erstmals der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt, war der neue Peugeot 308 nun am Samstag bereits bei den deutschen Peugeot-Händlern zu besichtigen. Nach ersten Erhebungen des französischen Importeurs war das Interesse an den Sonderschauen groß. Dabei stand nicht nur die obligatorische Bratwurst oder der Erbseneintopf im Vordergrund, sondern ebenso der neue Kompakte der Löwenmarke. Interesse fand der Peugeot 308 dabei nicht nur bei den von den Kölner Marketing-Strategen definierten Hauptzielgruppen junge Ehepaare und junggebliebene Senioren, deren Kinder schon lange einen eigenen Hausstand haben, sondern auch bei Familien mit Kindern. Augenscheinlich, dass das klare Design des 308 bei der potentiellen Kundschaft ankommt. Über die weiteren Vorzüge wie effiziente Motoren und moderne Technologien sowie das innovative Innenraumkonzept wird dann wohl erst nach einer Probefahrt entschieden werden. Zur Markteinführung stehen drei Benziner und zwei Dieselmotorisierungen von 60 kW/82 PS bis 115 kW/155 PS zur Auswahl. Sie sind besonders effizient und verbrauchsarm. So kommt der 1.6 l e-HDi Diesel mit 85 kW/115 PS, STOP & START-System und rollwiderstandsoptimierten Reifen auf einen Verbrauch von kombiniert nur 3,7 Liter je 100 Kilometer. Der CO2-Ausstoß liegt bei 95 Gramm pro Kilometer. Die Preise für die Benzinversionen beginnen bei 16.450 Euro, die Diesel bei 19.550 Euro, jeweils zzgl. Überführungskosten.
Im Jahr 1982 erblickte der erste Golf GTD das Licht der Welt. Der erste Gran Tourismo Diesel, was das Namenskürzel eigentlich bedeutet, war weitestgehend ein Golf GTI, allerdings mit einem Selbstzünder unter der Haube. Trotz der im Vergleich zum aktuellen GTD mager anmutenden 70 Turbo-Diesel-Pferde, war der erste GTD damals so etwas wie die Sportskanone unter den Dieseln. Das lag zum einen am straffen Fahrwerk, zum anderen am geringen Gewicht. Rund 900 Kilogramm brachte das zierlich wirkende Auto damals auf die Waage. Der aktuelle GTD lässt bei Bedarf 184 Pferde galoppieren, diese müssen aber knapp eine halbe Tonne mehr in Bewegung halten. Die Gewichtszunahme ist optisch leicht zu erkennen, der neue GTD ist gegenüber seinem Urahn stolze 50 Zentimeter gewachsen. Aber auch unter dem Blech hat er nun eine Menge Technik, die das Fahren sicherer und komfortabler macht. Dass der Neue, dem ersten GTD in jeder Lebenslage die Rückleuchten zeigen kann, lässt sich am leichtesten mit dem Leistungsgewicht erklären. Beim Golf I sind es mehr als 12 Kilogramm, die jede Pferdestärke bewegen muss, beim aktuellen stemmen sich nur noch 7,4 Kilo gegen jedes PS. In Sachen Höchstgeschwindigkeit lässt der Golf 7 dem Oldtimer keine Chance. Während 160 Km/h in den 80ern als zügig galten, sind es heute 230 Stundenkilometer… Doch eines verbindet die beiden GTD. Damals wie heute standen und stehen die drei Buchstaben für einen echten Langstreckenexpress.
