The STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® Series will be bringing the top lumberjack athletes in the country to Milwaukee this summer. The Series will host its U.S. Pro and Collegiate Championship at German Fest, at the BMO Harris Pavilion at Henry Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee, from July 28 to 30. The top 20 professional and eight collegiate athletes will chop and saw their way toward the title of Best Lumberjack in the USA.
The STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® Series pits premier lumberjack athletes in thrilling and grueling chopping and sawing competitions to determine the top lumberjack in the country. The Series, which is in its 32nd season, will air on ABC in the fall with re-airs on ESPN, ESPN2 and NBC Sports.

Nearly 90 percent of children and adults with a highly aggressive form of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) showed no evidence of cancer after receiving a novel, personalized cell therapy that reprograms a patient’s immune system. In pilot studies of bioengineered T cells that attack leukemia, 24 of 27 patients (89%) experienced complete responses within 28 days after treatment. In all, 27 patients received the treatment--22 children treated at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and five adults treated at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia today announced the largest charitable donation in its history: a landmark $50 million gift from the Buerger family toward the construction of a new state-of-the-art outpatient facility. Two beautiful baby girls had their public debut today at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia: Allison June and Amelia Lee Tucker, formerly conjoined twins, separated at the Hospital on Nov. 7. By reprogramming a 7–year–old girl’s own immune cells to attack an aggressive form of childhood leukemia, a pediatric oncologist has achieved a complete response in his patient, who faced grim prospects when she relapsed after conventional treatment. The innovative experimental therapy used bioengineered T cells, custom–designed to multiply rapidly in the patient, and then destroy leukemia cells. After the treatment, the child’s doctors found that she had no evidence of cancer.

An inaugural national research report released today from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and State Farm Insurance Companies® shows that the impact of teen driver crashes extends far beyond teen drivers’ families and friends. In 2008, more than half a million (681,000) people were involved in crashes where a teen driver was behind the wheel. More than 40,000 were injured, and nearly 30 percent of those who died in these crashes were not in cars driven by teens.
